Let's share immigrant stories in your community!

Are you interested in hosting an exhibition about people who've moved to Britain? Or would you like a talk about how immigrants are shown in the media? Get in touch with Maryna to arrange a Local Foreigners event in your area.

We can create an event that fits your needs and budget. This could be anything from a small workshop for a few people to a big exhibition. Our exhibitions show photos and personal items of people who now call the UK home.

What we can do

  • Exhibitions

Host a Local Foreigners exhibition to bring immigrant narratives into the British cultural discourse. Ten panels featuring portraits and stories, collected from across the UK, will be installed at your location. This diverse exhibition requires only 4 m of wall space, offering a range of perspectives on the immigrant experience.

Ten panels with diverse migrant portraits and stories are mounted at the Soft Ground venue for the Migration Matters Festival.
  • Talks

Discover how some photographers and politicians portray immigration negatively, and join a discussion on presenting a more accurate image of migration. This talk explores ethical representation methods, using examples from Local Foreigners stories and other documentary projects.

Collage shows portraits of immigrants who moved to various places in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, made in collaboration with the participants.
  • Commission

Expand the project's reach by commissioning Maryna to interview immigrants in your area, leading to an exhibition featuring their portraits and objects, showcasing the stories of immigration. This approach is ideal for local museums and festivals wanting to include migrant voices from their community.

Local Foreigners exhibition at the Museum of Edinburgh displays diverse stories of people who moved to this city, accompanied by objects that remind them of home.
