When Vanessa thinks of home, she doesn’t think of one particular place.
Having travelled back and forth between Britain and Nigeria all her life, Vanessa has ceased to identify a single country as her home. Instead what comes to mind are thoughts of her Mother.
She likes to spend time with her mother, and one of their favourite activities is shopping together. This is why Vanessa is particularly saddened by the closure of TopShop on Oxford Street, “a London landmark with so many memories”.

Talking about immigration; Vanessa mentions that British public do not receive proper information about people entering their country, “It is assumed that black people are all immigrants and came here without visa” she explains, adding that more needs to be done to represent black immigrants as highly skilled workers.

Regent’s park is one of her favourite places in London. Vanessa used to live in this area and came here often to meet her friends.

“Sometimes we would hire bikes, they used to be Barclays bikes back then, and ride around the park, having fun”
